Nyjer is a favorite of the finch family, especially the Goldfinch in the summer and the Red polls in the winter when they grace us with their presence. Nyjer is a small seed and is difficult to shell and the finch family has the talent to get the job done. Other birds tend to waste the Nyjer seed as they find it difficult to shell, so be sure to use this in a Nyjer specific feeder that can be found in store. This seed has a 2 month shelf life, so we recommend buying smaller quantities that will be consumed in that time frame.
