Earlier I did a blog on “The Birds Are Doin It! and this means that the Magpies are doin it too. I know a lot of people detest Magpies because they are noisy and go after the songbirds nests’, and although this is true, the same can be said for other birds doing the same thing. Take for instance the adorable House wren, you may think because it’s so small that I wouldn’t be able to say anything bad about this bird, well read on my friend. House wrens are extremely territorial and will place sticks in other nests to make them unusable. They have also been known to destroy the eggs of other birds by puncturing holes in them. I am an advocate of the Corvid family “the birds that think like humans” and even though I agree they are noisy and destructive, they are a wonder to watch as they are so smart. However, if you see Magpies flying with big sticks follow them and find out where they are building their nest and knock it down. You may have to do this several times with one nesting pair as they are persistent, but eventually they will find somewhere else to build their nest.
